Four years ago, my brother turned twenty, and I felt that the time was right to start calling him an old fogey. Well, now it’s my turn. I’m finally done with my teenage years, but I don’t feel any different. When I first realized that I was going to be twenty this year, I was at work washing dishes in the back; all of the sudden I stopped what I was doing and thought to myself, “wow, I’m going to be twenty.” Nothing has ever hit me hard enough before mentally to get me to physically stop what I’m doing.
I was going to have a BBQ at my house on the weekend before my birthday, but only one person showed up (at least it was easy clean up). Well I had that following Wednesday off, so I talked to one of the other guys I work with and we played a set of tennis in the morning.
After I got thoroughly defeated (6-1), we went to Togo’s to get some food. While I was waiting in line, I look over at the door because I saw someone walk in with balloons, at first I didn’t think about it because I didn’t see who was carrying them. As I turned back, I noticed a bunch of people that weren’t working that day come out of the back. Then two other girls I work with came from the other side, one holding the balloons I saw earlier, and the other holding a cake for me.
All counted, there was Lindsey, Jaci, Jordaine, Jessica, Kevin, Monica, and JD. Jaci brought in the balloons and a card, and Monica baked the cake (which was very good). She also wrote “Happy Birthday & 2 days” since this took place on the 13 (my birthday was on the 11 for those that can’t do the math), so that was a nice touch. They even put 20 candles on it and sang happy birthday (along with every one else that was working at the time). Greg showed up a little later and we went skateboarding after 3 (for those of you who don’t know me, this was my first time actually riding a skateboard with enough room to actually roll around). Despite it being my first time, I didn’t fall to the ground once, I came off the board more than a few times, but never once did I hit the ground.
So if any of you guys read my blogs, thanks for the second half of this week, it really got me in a better mood.
Update ‘ur blog!!!
