I learned an important lesson this Summer: don’t leave any electrical music device in a car during 100 degree weather. Yes, I left my MP3 player in my car several times this summer and it finally broke down. Lucky for me, I bought the Best Buy extended warranty with it, so I was planning on taking it back.
Before I did, I looked online to see how much it would be to buy the second generation of the iRiver Clix [the model I had was the first generation, and only came in 2Gb ($170) ]. It turns out, Best Buy no longer carries the iRiver brand at all, so I ordered the new, 4Gb, second generation model from another website ($200). Basically the same functionality as the previous one, with a different shape. The took out their proprietary usb connection and used a standard mini usb connection.
Well I took my Clix back, expecting to get at least some of my money back for it. I handed it over to them so that they could run some kind of test or something on it. When they come back I’m told that it can be either replaced with a different product, or I can just get a refund on it, I decided to get the refund since I already had ordered my new one. How much did I get back on a Best Buy gift card? The entire $180 something (including tax) that I spent on the thing. I was completely shocked, but now I have some extra spending cash for things at Best Buy.
