Wow, I’ve been away for a really long time haven’t I? Well I was planning on writing a post for each thing that has happened, and I started to do that, but now it’s been so long it’s hard to get motivated to write about each individual thing. So instead, I’ll just kind of skim through what’s happened, if you want to know more about something, leave me a comment and I’ll fill in some details.
Back in August (it really has been a long time), we went to Dillon’s Beach for a little bit of weekend camping. All included was my parents, Keith, Kyle, and Kerry. My parents got there on Thursday, and picked out a great spot very close to the ocean, but unfortunately, it rained pretty much the entire weekend. Instead of going out and enjoying the ocean, we spent most of our time huddled around the fire or inside our little dining area (a table inside of a giant mosquito net). because the sides of this thing was all tiny holes, the rain could still get in, so my dad had this extra tarp and some cheap plastic rope in his truck, which we used to cover the whole thing and make it into a make-shift tent. We played many card games inside that tent.
Back in October, I got a big surprise when I came home from one of my classes. My mom had finally given in and got another cat. This one was a little black kitten. Keith was able to persuade her to get it from my her coworker, whose cat had just had kittens. His name is Shadow, but my brother just calls him Cat all the time. Sometimes he’ll be really stupid as he rolls around on the floor or slams into a wall chasing one of his toys. Other times he can be the biggest pest when he starts attacking for no reason. He’ll just be lying down, purring like crazy while you pet him, when all of the sudden he tries to bite your hand or take a swipe at it with his claws, and guess what, he’s still purring.
My car finally bit the dust in November. This time, instead of just going into limp mode, it kept getting stuck in neutral when it tried to shift gears. it’s never good to be going along the freeway, trying to get up one of many hills when your car suddenly goes into neutral. I was able to eventually get my car onto an off ramp where I was able to pull off the side. Later that night, my dad and I attempted to bring it back home from the Cameron Park Drive off ramp. We got as far as the new shopping area at the end of that road where we decided it would be safer to leave it until the morning. My dad drove it the rest of the way because I was afraid of one of the hills in Rescue that we had to get it over. It may be a small hill, but when your car randomly gets stuck in neutral, any hill looks five times bigger.
Thanksgiving, like every year, was at my aunt’s house. I was able to buy another car within about a week of looking. I found a nice, 2006 convertible Chrysler Sebring GTC, and if you know what the GTC stands for, I would like to know. I got a good price on it, and I’m glad I found a car that I had been looking at for some time now. I took my car mainly to show Kyle because I don’t see him much, but ended up showing it to half the family there. Now I just have to pay it off, fun fun.
I was going to pay a $2500 down payment on my car to my parents, but after all the holiday shopping, and sales tax for transferring the car, I only had about #$1000 left (which I still need to pay). Christmas was at our house this year, so I had to help get all the Christmas decorations down from our storage crawl space, not a terribly fun task. I was able to find a copy of Rock Band though so that we could have a bunch of people downstairs playing that while other people talked upstairs. I was hoping to get some of the older people to try it out, but none of them did, so it just switched around between the younger generation.
Not much happened in January really. Mainly I’m just working. I decided to take this semester off from school so that I can get more hours at Togo’s to try to pay for my car. Unfortunately, I’m not getting any more hours, so I’ll have to look for another job, again.
Well, that ends the “Where I’ve Been” section. I plan to try to get a weekly update from now on. If not with a post, I’ll try to get a game review up. Eventually I want to have a page for all the game reviews, but it still needs some work.
Hey Chadd, this was a great new post, I am also looking forward to your game reviews. I almost bought one the other day that you recommended but decided to buy gas instead haha. Sucks about your camping trip getting rained on, but hey, cards isn’t a bad alternative
