Cody, Kyle’s former neighbor while he lived in Elk Grove, introduced us to a game called Killer bunnies one day. With a name like, “Killer Bunnies,” I’m sure you expect to see rabid rabbits with sharp fangs and claws, itching for a chance to tear you apart should you make a wrong move. But surprisingly, this bunnies are gleeful, lumbering, congenial, and timid, as well as sinister.
After playing, Kerry decided to buy her own copy of the game, and now I wanted to do the same. I didn’t just want to have the same copy as Kyle and Kerry, since that wouldn’t be very cost effective. Instead I discovered that there is a sequel out there that was released relatively recently. Killer Bunnies and the Journey to Jupiter (Journey) has a lot of the same main mechanics as its predecessor, Quest for the Magical Carrot (Quest), but Journey adds a little bit more to the game.
Now instead of just playing on a table, killing each other’s bunnies all around the bunny circle, but now you can launch your bunnies into space and take your bunnies intent on killing to the massive vacuum.
My Dad asked me to teach how to play it, so we set it up in out fifth wheel so it won’t be disturbed when we leave it. We are playing with just the two of us, and only half the maximum number of carrots (those are the game winning pieces). Even so, it seems like this game could be longer than Quest was. Maybe after my Dad and I finish our game, I’ll try to get Kyle and Kerry to play, and try to make a bigger game out of it.
